THE LITTLE GHOST TOWN THAT COULD….
If you’re ever driving the back roads of Jackson County be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the little sign announcing: “TWO EGG!” NO, it’s definitely NOT a joke BUT a uniquely named former town (that’s actually still listed on the census as a current town!) & if you blink, you’ll probably miss It!
ONE FISH, UM…TWO EGG!
Folklore gives a few different stories behind the naming of “TWO EGG.” One of the more popular tales states that during the Great Depression, two boys would come into the town’s general store carrying two eggs from their family farm to trade them for sugar & other goods. As this became a regular occurrence, the locals began to jokingly call the place the “Two Egg” Store…Apparently the name stuck.
WE SAW THE SIGN!
While in the town of Marianna, The Bestie & I couldn’t resist the temptation to take a ride to “TWO EGG!” It turns out, it wasn’t all that hard to find as the side of the 2 lane highway sports a sign announcing that you’re now within the town limits! We pulled over & spent about 30 minutes posing with our trusty travel companion, Voodoo Vinny!
TWO EGG’S MOST WANTED!
Well, technically he OR she is NOT a criminal BUT still notorius in his OR her own right!! While there are a number of Urban Legends that have been circulating throughout Two Egg, I want to talk about one of the longest running & most infamous…
TWO EGG STUMP JUMPER…
Said to look like a miniature Big Foot, The Two Egg Stump Jumper (also known as the North Paramour Hobbit) is said to roam the woods and swamps between downtown Two Egg and the Chattahoochee River. Witnesses who’ve claimed to have seen the creature describe it as being smaller than average human height, with long hair & pale coloring. This creature was also reported as standing upright & when it ran, it was on 2 legs & left nonhuman tracks on the ground.
In 2010, the Two Egg Stump Jumper was supposedly caught on a wildlife camera that had been placed out in the woods, close to the same area as the other reported sitings. Upon viewing the footage, it’s been said that a pair of red eyes could be seen peering into the camera.

Whether you believe that this creature exists OR not, you’ve got to admit that it’s definitely a unique spin on the old Big Foot IS out there legend!
PEACE OUT TWO EGG!
However brief our time was there, I’m pretty sure neither one of us regrets putting this stop on our “To Do” list! It wasn’t much to look at BUT it makes for a pretty cool story. Nobody could EVER top a conversation when one of the participants starts off with “I visited a town called TWO EGG & looked for a mini Big Foot!” *INSERT MIC DROP HERE!*
So if you EVER take a road trip & Two Egg pops up on the map, swing on by…Who knows, maybe you’ll end up being the person who FINALLY catches the Stump Jumper!
